| Synopsis: |
| FOR YOU, ME, AND US follows Nia, an ambitious young woman who is forced to choose between her family and her future. When Nia receives an educational opportunity, the pressures at home increase as she tries to support both her ailing grandmother, Linette, and her single father, Jameel. We witness Nia’s emotional journey and the decision she is ultimately forced to make. |
| Character Breakdowns: |
| Jameel-Male 30-45; African American Jameel is a hardworking single father. He takes care of his daughter and ailing mother-in-law as best he can. As a working professional, he does his best to keep the bills paid but must accept help from his daughter at times. He is still very much in love with his late wife.Linette-Female 65-80; African American Linette is an older woman struggling with dementia. When she is lucid her kindness is palpable. Her connection with her granddaughter is evident in their interactions. She is grateful for her son-in-law and her daughter’s memory is ever present for her. When she is in the throes of dementia, she is lost, scattered, prone to running from her house. |

| Seeking actors for a festival quality film to be shot in Marshall, Texas. This short film is produced, in part, by the Nate Parker Foundation. The script for For You, Me, and Us was selected to be filmed and submitted to various festivals in the coming season. Previous films selected by the foundation have performed well at prestigious festivals. |
